Elisabeth Rose Astwood
Executive Artistic Director
Elisabeth currently lives in Seattle with her husband and adorable cats while leading The Purple Stapler Arts Society, working as a photographer and creating as much art as she can squeeze into her day.
In May 2014, she graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BFA in Creative Writing and is now working towards completing Seattle University's MFA Arts Leadership program. As a photographer, filmmaker and mixed media artist, she has seen her work presented internationally.
Her goal in starting The Purple Stapler is to create a platform that allows herself and other emerging artists to collaborate on professional projects of creative activism.
Carolynne Hulbert
Director of outreach and development
Carolynne Hulbert is a unique artist administrator who is deeply passionate about using her diverse skills to help others. She was first introduced to the Fine Arts through Performing Speech Art Festivals in Victoria, BC. Poetry, prose, and dramatic scenes soon lead to learning visual arts, dance, music, applied theatre, and culminating in a BFA in Theatre Production and Design from Simon Fraser University.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Carolynne brings a very strong managerial and organizational skill set to the team. In 2010 Carolynne started working for SFU in the Registrar and Information Services Department as she was simultaneously completing her degree. Exploring several areas within Student Services taught her the art of tact, diplomacy and how to exercise mature judgement.
Finding aligned artistic goals and kindred spirits, Carolynne partnered with The Purple Stapler in July 2014 as it took its first foray into the nonprofit sector.
