David Akselrod
Artist Statement
My art is collection of ink and watercolour artworks that are illustrative, whimsical and vibrantly colourful. The work reflects upon a world that is full of excitement, danger and youthful spirit. I find inspiration from my daily life performing as a musician and a busker or painting at a studio space in town.
I am a dedicated illustrator. I enjoy the long process of drawing, sketching and capturing emotion or personality on my slate. Through the method of ink and watercolour, I am able to express myself with free moving lines layered with a colourful meld of brushed strokes. Each painting becomes a fascinating memory or a small humorous narrative that invites and welcomes the viewer in.
