TIA MUELLER
BIO
Tia Mueller was born and raised in Penticton, British Columbia, in 1992 until moving to Vancouver in February, 2017. She discovered a love for theatre when she was 11 years old and has competed in the “Kiwanis Music, Dance, and Speech Arts Competition” since she was 14. In 2013, she placed 1st at the Provincial level in the Senior Speech Arts category. However, she has only just begun to explore writing original poetry within the past few months.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Tia believes a truly impactful poem refrains from too much abstraction and, thus, allows the poet to communicate their thoughts to the audience in a relatable, yet creative and powerful, way. It is the works of modern-day poets Shane Koyczan and Taylor Mali that has influenced this philosophy. She hopes her poetry will encourage people to find gratitude in every aspect of their lives and inspire them to be better towards others, towards themselves, and towards the world each day.
